A migraine is not just a headache. It is a debilitating condition with moderate to severe headaches and nausea, about 3 times more common in women than in men.
The typical migraine headache affects one half of the head and pulsates. It can last anywhere from 4 to 72 hours. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, and is aggravated by routine activity. Approximately one-third of people who suffer from migraine headaches perceive an aura—unusual visual, olfactory, or other sensory experiences that are a sign that the migraine will soon occur.
Keeping a migraine diary is a great tool to determine the triggers and prevent future attacks. There are also some natural remedies to help keep them at bay.
