Hormone Imbalance
A hormone imbalance is when there is too little or too much of a particular hormone in one’s body. Hormones are the chemical messengers in the body that travel the bloodstream to the organs and tissues. They slowly work and affect many of the body’s processes over time. If hormone imbalance is left untreated it can cause a great deal of daily discomfort as well as result in serious medical conditions.
Bio-identical hormones have the same chemical structure as hormones that are made in the human body. When we are “replacing” the body’s hormones, we feel it makes more sense to use entities which the body recognizes as it’s own, rather than hormones from horses, imbalanced versions or overly potent synthetic versions.
There is no cookie cutter dose for hormone replacement. You are unique! Your physician will take many issues into account: age, weight, symptoms, gynecological history and prior or present use of hormones will all affect the choice of dose and dosage form.
